(Co) author of more than 360 papers, 14 patents, 2 books (1 book “Mechanics of Microsystems” edited by Wiley in 2018); (h-index 40, 5868 citations, Scopus, December 19, 2024). Wide range of subjects in the fields of structural and materials mechanics, among them: damage phenomena in composite materials and interface models; brittle and quasi-brittle fracture; parameter identification of constitutive models; reliability, design and multi-physics problems for MEMS; metamaterials; deep and reinforced learning applied to SHM and materials and structures optimization.
AC covered a wide range of subjects in the fields of structural and materials
mechanics, with particular reference to theoretical and computational problems
relevant to non-linear material responses.
Along his career, AC has mainly contributed to the fields of: elasto-plasticity,
advanced and composite materials, parameters and models identification,
microsystems, metamaterials, deep and reinforcement learning applied to
materials and structures.
The main scientific results may be schematically divided in ten main subjects:
i) Shakedown and a priori bounds in elasto-plastic dynamics.
ii) Static and dynamic step by step elasto-plastic analysis.
iii) Effects of material instability on the structural response.
iv) Models and methodologies in ductile fracture.
v) Damage phenomena in composite materials and interface models.
vi) Models and methodologies in brittle and quasi-brittle fracture.
vii) Parameter identification of constitutive models.
viii) Reliability, multi-physics problems and design of Micro Electro
Mechanical Systems (MEMS).
ix) Mechanical metamaterials.
x) Structural Health Monitoring through deep-learning.
